Video Clips of Assembly in Motion

This page shows video clips of experiments with the demonstrator of assembly in motion (mounting of wheels while the car body is moved by a conveyor). Further explanations of the project and the methods used can be found on our page of "Assembly in Motion". All video clips have been recorded at the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) in Augsburg.

Video shown at the presentation of the project in september 2007, including the feeding of the screws and the wheels. Courtesy of iwb.

Video illustrating the functionality of the vision system when approaching the robot to the wheel first and later when moving the wheel rim to the wheel hub. This video has been submitted to the ICRA 2010.

Video of the mounting of the wheels only, without the feeding.

Video of an experiment with conveyor stop and restart during assembly. This video has been submitted to the ICRA 2010. (Corresponding paper)

Videos of experiments without using a linear axis. These videos will be shown at the ISR 2010. (Corresponding paper)

Experiments on force control. These clips will be shown at the ISR 2010. (Corresponding papers)

Without a special consideration, force control with an asymmetrically arranged sensor (here: higher than the contact point) yields a drift in components which are not given by the contact. The experiments show contact with screws on a flat surface (upper row) and with the tips in holes (lower row).
